We will work together in class on major projects, but most of your photographic work will be done outside of school. Each will focus on a new medium/technique and a design challenge for you to apply the skills learned through demonstrations and practice activities.
You all have great ideas. This is your opportunity to explore what interests you. If you finish your work for me early, open up one of our programs and play. If you make something great share it with the group and inspire someone else. If it's not working, change it or just try something different. There won't be many times in your life that you have all of these materials along with the time and freedom to do just about anything you want.
While most students don't think about writing in art, it truly is an important part of your art education. For each project, you will reflect on your work, the creative process and the work of your classmates.
Through these assignments we will learn to see, understand and communicate about our work in a more thoughtful and critical way. The skills we develop in these assignments will help you in other classes and life in general.
Critiques are an opportunity to share our best work with each other, giving and receiving feedback on our work. They are generally very casual and a great chance to learn from others in the class.
